Keeping things simple, if only to confuse you more: thoughts revisited

While time does not stop and the world spins out of control i find serenity in the simple things. You might say this is because I am just a simple minded southerner, this is true, but i believe it is because i am far more advanced of a thinker then any of you will ever know. Serenity comes in all sorts of nice packaging. Sometimes it is wrapped in newspaper and often times it is wrapped in pink striped paper with a pink bow on it. To me it does not matter how serenity is packaged as long as you can find it and hold on to it. While i am babbling i am reminded of an ancient proverb a man once told me, "You shot me in the #$%*ing hand." This was his reply to me shooting him through the hand with a nail. I believe this proverb holds so much bearing on all of your lives. just think about the varied imlications that lie within. I will leave it up to you the reader to figure this one out. I mean hell i am going to have to take the training wheels off soon. I can not hold your hands forever. If you can not figure out what i am saying then i do not believe i should tell you what i mean.
How does one become as affluent of a thinker as me, you must all be asking yourselfs. I really dont konw. It must have something to do with that intense breeding experiment my parents went through in the early 80's. No more on that because apparently it went wildly wrong and i am the result.
Earlier today i was driving around Moccasin bend and I had a beautiful thought. What if the worlds was flat. All these years we have been thinking the world to be spherical. How many minds would be blown if all the sudden they had to change there whole thought structure. Wow that is to crazy to even think about. I think i would run to the edge and just stare and think about how i had been wrong for so long. then i would probably be driven mad by the pressure that was added to my already large brain.
How about fire what if fire was all the sudden cold and it froze you instead of burnt you. this question might also bring to mind, what if ice burnt you in the same way that fire does. my reply to that question would have to be, " shut up i was talking about if fire froze you, why do you always have to change the subject."
Talking about changing the subject. See how easy that is to just jump from one thought to another, see watch i can do it again. Baseball is a fun sport.
I wonder if i keep typing will people keep reading this, i am sure by now in this post no one has made it to this point, If people can wade through my babble long enough to make it this far i believe they deserve some sort of treat. I am not going to give you a treat, but could someone get on that. maybe some cookies and punch. Nothing to extravagant they dont deserve anything to special.
Well know that i have made the world a much more enlightened place i will leave you all. Until the next time i decide to numb your minds with my brillance. I will leave you with this. "The world is a tall drink of water, but dont drink it to fast or you will get a cramp

For all of you who feel like you have heard these words before, you are probably wrong, unless someone read them aloud to you. This is a post that i stole off of davidlittlejohn.com. I was not in the mood to leave a real post so i just took this one today. Later

Back, Back In The South

After a greatly anticipated and highly exciting trip to Chicago i am back in one piece. I am still a little hungover from yesterdays travels. It is very choppy to travel by way of Midway aiport to Nashville. The sitting in the airport trying to be comfortable while drinking my sprite, eating my skittles and reading my new book. Yes i did say reading my new book. I picked up a copy of the Chuck Palahniuk novel "Diary". I like it so far. I needed something to do in the airport and on the plane. I left my cd player at Davids apartment. The flight was easy, then i had to race to get to my Shuttle waiting outside the nashville airport. Not a space shuttle for all of you who were thinking, "holy cow Huffine has a space shuttle." Really i was rushing so i could smoke a cigarette before i got on the van. Luckily i was able to squeeze two in before the doors shut and the tires began to roll. Well i got home around one in the morning and finally was able to wind down around two. thank you Chris Marr for picking me up at the shuttle place. I owe you alot for the use of your car recently.

Well about the trip. I got to experience alot of firsts this weekend. The whole trip was great but i am only going to bore you with my favorites. Friday i got to do something i have been wanting to do for a long time now. i saw my first real life Salvador Dali. Not only 1 i got to see over 90. I am not sure the exact number, but the gallery owner and her workers were hanging them. they said they had something like 120. Needless to say they were incredible. They were all prints and sketches. They seemed to be exercise's for later pieces that are some of his more famous works. Also in the gallery was one of the most striking Mary Cassats i have ever seen. It was just a simple sketch of a mother and child. It was selling for like $60'000 or something like that. Needless to say i stared at the price for a while skratching my county bumpkin head. But i was mesmerized by the softness of the faces and the dark line which was the only representation of form outsdide of facial features. The dark line streched down the mothers back and only served to place the figures in space, so there heads were not just floating. But i am sure this was just a piece that got left undone. Left sitting in an old sketch book piled over by tons of other sketches that held the artists attention. I loved it. Ok enough about the gallery. On Friday as well i saw my first improv comedy troupe. I actually saw two acts. Both did a bit straight for an hour, prodded by a suggestion from the crowd. It was hillarious. The place was called the improv olympics. it is a feeder for Second City, and was also a school for improv artists. That night was followed by things as normal just some hanging out with Davo and Mia and some poker. I lost.

The next morining had a lazy start we woke up to pancakes and sausage. Then we just lounged around Mias apartment listening to the Saturday programming of NPR. I think i fell in love with story telling this weekend. David and Mia got me a cd of David Sedaris "Live at Carnegie Hall." For those of you who do not know who he is, check him out he is hillarious. And one fine story teller as well. After that we ran some errands and threw some darts, i won. Then it was off for the evening. We had dinner at Giordanno's. This is the best pizza in the whole world. Can i get a hell yeah from my peeps if your out there. Johnny pants knows what i am talking about. After dinner David Mia Gid and I headed to the hookah bar. It was so relaxing, we smoked something called serenity now, it is a tobacco with jasmine and mint. It was excellent. my mom would be happy it had zero percent tar and only .005 percent nicotine. but i ruined it by smoking a cigarette in between my turn on the hose. the Hookah bar was only the beginning of my cultural experience. The next place we went was to the Polish Bar. This is by far the best bar in the world. Anyone who has gone to visit David in Chicago will agree wholeheartedly i am sure. It is basically like Disney world. Dont take me to literally on that one. Oh who am i fooling, none of you take me literally, except maybe Meg. I met a whole lot of friends of David and Mias their. It was a blast. It also was Ralphs Birthday. Thanks for letting me invade your party Ralph, but it does seem to be a budding tradition for me to be in Chicago around your Birthday. It is funny i just said that about Ralph because he will probably not even read this. For those of you who do not know Ralph is Jess Thomas' boyfriend and all around cool guy. I also met Erin and Andrew who i am pleased to have finally met. I am glad Mia and David have found a good group of friends up there in the windy City. And i know that Andrew has that good southern sensibility about him, he did go to school at the University of the south.

This is getting long but who cares you all have not had a nice long rambling from me in quite some time now. So you all need your brains filled with the musings of Huffine. I forgot one important facet of the trip. I went to a wine tasting. I want you all now to close your eyes and picture me Jonathan Huffine tasting wine with a lot of well dressed Big City types. I was wearing a thrift store button down with a 7 dollar sweater, the kicker was the blue Carharts with the paint and glue stains on them. I looked spectacular compared to my normal dress. All were also impressed thouroughly with my drawn out words and my extreme southern dialect. It is not so much considered an accent up there it is more or less a novelty act. I was so cute.

Oh yeah i also saw the ship from the classic movie."The flight of the navigator". For those of you who have not seen this movie. Find it watch it and love it

So now that you have heard some of the highlights from my trip i will never speak of them again. If you ask me in person i will only refer you to my blog. Although it is great to be back home to sleep in my own bed i miss the adventure of a chicago vacation. With David as host you never know what is going to happen. From Ice skating to hot chocalte on Michigan Avenue, to sitting in his apartment making fun of hipsters, to going out on the street and trying to be more hip then the next guy you see, to throwing darts, to drinking an Old Style, to viewing the city from 95 stories up, the list goes on. But thank you David and Mia for the fun and Chicago you better watch out because i will be back. And next time it is your ass.

My Friends are better then your friends

Thank you to all my friends who kept me in there prayers and on there minds today. I had a rough day today and my friends helped me to find the strength to deal with some things. But this is not one of those sappy blogs. I just want all of you to know how special you are.

In better news Snood is back. I just downloaded snood again. For those of you who do not know it is just the best game ever invented. If you want to see for yourself just go to www.snood.com and see for yourself. It is the most addictive game i have ever played. I had to get it so that i can have something to do during my flight to Chicago.

Place me on the top of the list for a new brain

Well i went online today to check my flight reservation and realized that i booked the wrong flight. I am going to Chicago next week and i booked a flight for yesterday. needless to say i am in Chattanooga. So i missed my flight yesterday, but luckily i was able to upgrade my ticket for a small fee and change my flight for next week. Way to go Jonathan, Brain dead most be hot for the fall.

But i am excited to visit the windy city it has been over a year since i visited and i love that place. For a big city it is still blue collar enough for me. Granted there are not enough rednecks to make me comfortable. My southern draw does not fit in to the fast paced city life. But i am going to make some waves and show them how a good ole boy from the mountains of Tennessee throws down. So watch out Chicago i am on my way.

So could someone please tell me what is so great about the Arcade Fire. I am just not feeling it like so many of you are. I think they were cool when i heard them the first time. they have just not grabbed my attention. So Josiah why do u love them so much. You are always ranting about how great they are please let me in. Maybe there is some sublimanal code going on that i am missing.

Oh yeah it is Kikos birthday today so everyone give her a call and wish her a happy birthday. A bunch of them are on there way down to Savannah to celebrate tonight. We had a small birthday get together last night. a special friend showed up to help celebrate his name is Jose. Needless to say it was a good time had by all. except for those trying to sleep at the house.

Get back to whatever else you were doing this entry is now over.

To kill a whooping crane

So now that Johnny T is back with us in the south a calm and a balance has re-entered the force. I just want everyone to know it was my fault his car had so many problems. I straight out cursed it from the get go. jokingly the first night he got it i told him a was boycottying looking at it. Whatever that means, but believe me it must be powerful. I never knew i had such powers over swedish automobiles. If i had of known about these powers earlier, maybe i could have done something about my volvo sitting in my drive way. It has been there for over two years. But alas maybe this is nothing, but a mere coinicedence. Welcome back to Gods country John. DSC00792.JPG

Now on to more pressing matters, oh who am i kidding i never talk about pressing matters on this blog. I did recently purchase a new album. It is "Razorlight", Up all night. I am not putting this out there so all you hipsters can tell me about how David Byrne is being emulated to much. In my opinion he is one man to copy, him and those guys from hoobastank. now that is one amazing band. Wow i think i just blacked out and woke up in a pool of my own vomit.

Everyone who reads this i need you to do me a favor. By the end of the week leave a comment. In this comment please tell me your top three albums of 2004, i know the year is not over yet. but nothing more important is going to come out, unless Christina Agulera is working on a Christmas album in spanish or something. what i mean by everyone, is all the people who even just run across my blog from where ever. Leave me a comment, you people from blog explosion are not impressing me that much so far. I think Chattablogs has to be the best blogging community out there. If chattablogs is not the best then how else would they have gotten a blogger as good as me. So now that you have a mission go forth and blog. I will try to do better at posting regularly if i have more audience participation. But thanks to all of you who post comments regularly. And meg i need more updates on Futureman. Pictures would be great too i can give you my mailing adress if you can not put them on a computer. And in the words of David Littlejohn.
and i'm out

Money making the Huffine way

So me and my business manager were talking the other day about using our time machine for monetary gain. For those of you who are not aware, Chris Marr and i have a time machine. We were watching "Zorro" ,the movie, the other day when a flashback scene sparked Chris' brain a movin. You know how in movies when they flashback to one of the characters childhoods the character looks nothing like the grown up character. Well with the time machine we can go back to when the actual actor was a child and get them to do the scene. Everything would move seemlessly there would be no pissed off viewers saying that the child actor did not look like the adult actor. So if any big time producers are reading this just let me know if you are interested. IF not then you can just find someone to write a movie about my amazing life.

I know you all have been really anxioius for a post from me, but this is all i got for the time being. My brain just has not been awake recently. So there will be more coming again soon. I am going to Chicago the weekend before Thanksgiving so i will write a post via chicago.
